Meticulously crafted yet stunning and predictable, James Cameron’s 1989 deep-sea epic reaffirms one of cinema’s oldest tenets: everything moves much more slowly underwater. Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, as ex-petroleum engineers with some “problems” to work out, are called in to help an eager Navy SEAL (Michael Biehn) with a top-secret salvage operation: a completed nuclear submarine. they are hidden and sunk under mysterious circumstances in some of the deepest waters on Earth, and the Petrochechs have the only submarine that can dive that far. Every frame and performance is incredibly sharp and detailed (and the computer-controlled aquatic creatures are beautiful), but the film’s plodding pace is ultimately fatal. It is the audience that ultimately feels satiated. Interestingly, for a man who enjoys photography as much as Cameron does (his next film was the masterpiece Terminator 2: Judgment Day), this moral balance swings heavily in favor of engineers who can; military types are amoralists to justify meanings, just like the poor government bureaucrats in Aliens.

This is the only true anamorphic widescreen version of The Abyss ever released, literally every other regional version is cropped with black bars and therefore very low resolution, other regional versions also had parts of the movie cut out – adding an extra 28 minutes to the movie adds movie.

This transcoded version is completely uncut and for the first time in true widescreen.

Windows 11. The main part of this announcement was the introduction of a major user interface change codenamed Sun Valley. As we know, a significant part of the UX changes will be borrowed from the Windows 10X shell, and Windows 10X is not coming to the market. Now, as expected, the Windows 11 leaks begin.

What’s new in Windows 11:

– Windows 11 will have a completely new design. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to retract its previous claims and still reject Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And the all-new design is great for that. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for the update under the code name Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently, Windows 11 was under this name. The Sun Valley project has been flickering on the web for a long time – Microsoft regularly revealed details about the new interface style, experts shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this information

– Startup and system items will hover above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and face of all new versions of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11 the developers will transform it again, but not so much in a functional sense as in a visual sense: the Start window will float above the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look a lot cooler. Judging by the information on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “inside” of this menu: the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The dashboard will also float and the layout will be exactly the same as the “Home”. The action center will be combined with the control buttons, in a similar way that it has been used for some time in some other operating systems. Almost every mention of this new menu indicates that it will be isolated: controls will be in a separate panel, notifications in another, and specific items (like players) in another separate panel.

– Right angles will disappear, they will be replaced by oblique ones. It is true that experts and designers of the concept do not agree on this issue: some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its tradition and keep right angles, while others are convinced that Microsoft will follow the fillet mode in 2021. The latter fits the definition of “new windows” better: floating menus are not enough to make a new design truly new. The files are expected to affect almost the entire system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, even on this topic, the opinions of concept designers differ: some draw fillets on all possible interface elements, others combine them at right angles.

– There will be a transparent background with blur everywhere. There are disagreements on the web about the island view styleof the window, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone is unanimous about the transparency of the window. The vast majority of design leaks and renders show transparency and blur in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or Explorer.
