The documentary explores the horrors of folk horror from the very beginning in the film trilogy – Michael Reeves’s “Witchfinder General” (1968), Piers Haggard’s “Blood on Satan’s Claw” (1971) and Robin Hardy’s “The Wicker Man” (1973) – through its broadcast on British television in the 1970s and specific manifestations of American, Asian, Australian and European horror cultures, to the resurgence of this genre in the past decade. As we touch on more than 100 titles and contain more than 50 interviewers, the film explores the many ways we alter, hide, and manipulate our own stories in an effort to find spiritual echoes in our environment.
