Story:

Alfred Kralik (James Stewart) and Klara Novak (Margaret Sullavan) work at the Matuschek and Company store in Budapest. Clara and Alfred are constantly in conflict with each other, arguing with each other and disagreeing on almost everything. They are both in love with their correspondent friends who serve as a welcome obstacle in life. They do not know that they are correspondent friends, and despite the external differences, they have unknowingly fallen in love with their letters.
